Who deserves this award? Here are two past 'winners' that took the award for the year ......

#1). It's a crying shame to see folks display the four leaf clover and call it a 'shamrock'. This happens most often on St. Patricks Day - in stores, in parades, in books ! The Shamrock has three leaves, not four, and we should make some effort to make the connection between Ireland and the Shamrock. It is even rumored that St. Patrick himself used the three leaves of the Shamrock to depict the Trinity. So, pass the word on to your friends and family.... A Shamrock has three leaves, not Four !

#2). For all the folks wanting to know what their Irish family 'TARTAN' is. Please know that tartans are not Irish, they can be very nice things, but they are Scottish. There is no such thing as an Irish tartan. A book came out several years ago 'giving' tartans to Irish family names. Hogwash ! This deserves the Shamerock award. A pure invention of Tartan sellers.
If you care at all about Irish and Scottish history, Do not participate in this historical farce.

Do not be fooled. Buy a beautiful tartan by all means - but do not be made a fool of by thinking it is your 'Irish' tartan. The Scots Irish of course, may want to lay claim to the Scottish tartans, based upon family blood lines from Scotland.

That's all for now, time to get back to the books....
